2013 Domaine Jeannot Pouilly Fume
Pouilly Fume Is Sauvignon Blanc from the French Loire. They are usually oaked and this one is done in neutral oak. The Jeannot is not oaky, it is simply polished. This is a big, very serious Sauvignon Blanc, highly extracted and rich in limestone. The legs are Chardonnay like big on the glass. No matter how spicy you serve your crawfish, chicken wings , Thai food , or if you are in the mood to simply throw a bunch of Jalapenos on the grill, this big Pouilly Fume will put the fire out . The Jeannot is not only big, it exhibits highly integrated acids which refresh the palate after each spicy bight. The flavor profile is a core of mild grapefruit surrounded by lime, lemon and tangerine. BIG FINISH. 325 Case production
Previous write up: The Jennard is a massively rich Sauvignon Blanc from the French Loire Valley. The mouth feel is big and the citrus flavor profile is pronounced in its exhibition of tangerine, lemon, lime and grapefruit. This is a wine for oysters, lobster, crab and tuna. Pouilly Fume also classically pairs with Asian and Cajun foods, the spicier the better.
